1) Choosing the best photo - and why you should work with a Photographer... |
Most people choose a photo from a session with their photographer to create a Wedding Portrait. We can't stress enough the importance of using a professional to capture the memory of this special day. Photography is truly an art and without the proper training, experience and the creative eye of a professional photographer it is very unlikely you will be able to capture the same kind of timeless romantic image. Once more, this day only comes once. After the Wedding there is no 2nd chance to go back and re-capture this memory. If all you have available is a consumer photo though all is not lost. The graphic artists in our studio will use advanced PhotoShop techniques to enhance the color and quality of your photo to create the best Wedding portrait possible. |

Once you've chosen a favorite photo your Wedding portrait can be ordered through this website. Just click here to order. You'll be asked to enter the name of the referring Chapel or Photography Studio or the 5 digit Referral ID #. This will open a shopping cart session and you'll be able select a portrait size and depth (5/8" or 1-1/2"). You'll upload your digital photo or choose to send a traditional print to us by mail. Enter your home address for delivery and use a credit card for payment. Your finished portrait will usually arrive within 7-10 days. |

3) Painted Portraits: Tips for selecting the best photo... |
As you may know, we are a group of professional Artists who can create a painting from any source photo you submit. We specialize in Wedding portraits but we also create portraits of Families, Children, Pets, Vacations, Landscapes, etc. If you're sending us a photo of people we recommend choosing a photo thats close up, in focus and has lots of smiles. This will produce the best artistic result. Photos that are dark or out of focus are harder to deal with. We
can do our best work when our artists can see the details in your photo clearly. If you wish to commission a painted portrait we suggest our $10 Art Preview. For this small charge we'll do all the work in advance and send you a proof by email for your review and comment prior to purchase. |

4) Digital Photos from Photographers: What's the best image format, resolution, and image size ? |
Notes for Photographers: We recommend Photographers send us a digital file with dimensions set to the final output size and resolution at 150dpi. Save this image as a .jpeg with highest quality compression. It is not necessary to send files sized to the final dimensions and over 150dpi. We recommend you open Photoshop and copy the digital image to one of our pre-sized canvas templates. This way you'll be able to see just exactly what portion of the image will appear on the face and sides of the canvas. If you don't have time to do this or don't know how....its ok. Just upload the photo you have and we'll take care of the rest. We'll let you know if we run into any problems.
For painted portraits we prefer an original photo with a file size between 1-2mb. But you can also send files as low as 200K. We can work with smaller files when creating a painting because our Artists create an altogether new artwork during the paint process which is scalable up to almost any size.
Scanning Tips: If you are scanning a traditional photo into your computer scan the photo in RGB color with output resolution set to 600dpi. Next save the image in .jpeg format with the highest quality compression. |

5) Can I send a client's family photo (paper print) for conversion into a painting ? |
Yes you can. Many professional photographers get requests to reproduce a favorite family photo or even an old or damaged photo into a painting. We can work with these photos and we also accept film negatives or slides. The original source photo will be returned with the finished canvas. Please don't send us an irreplaceable photo though without first making a copy of it. If you don't have a scanner visit any quick photo lab, Kinko's, Office Depot, Office Max or Staples. |

6) How do Photographers set up a Reseller account and place orders ? |

7) Do you have a 'Sample' program to help new photographers get started ? |

8) Are these Painted artworks created with actual paint ? |
We don't use a traditional paintbrush and paint. Our work is digital and performed manually in a computer by skilled artists using a stylus and electronic tablet along with specially designed software. However our process is not computer-automated. We don't just press a button or apply a filter to create the appearance of random brush strokes such as other studios. Our work is done by hand using a palette of over 16 million colors. We use modern digital tools to 'dab' and paint in the same rich tradition as Picasso, Matisse or Rembrandt. It truly is a wonder. |

9) Is there a charge for color correction or image stretching to create a Gallery Wrap |
These are free services from The Wedding Painter. Because we're a group of professional digital Artists we notice incoming files for Photo portraits could sometimes benefit from a slight enhancement in color correction or contrast adjustment. We examine a Histogram of each image in PhotoShop prior to printing to indicate the need for any adjustment. We also commonly receive files with a request to "wrap the image" over the side of the Gallery Wrap but the Photographer has not left enough space around the live part of the image to do this. When this happens - we manipulate and 'stretch' the outer edge of the image to achieve the desired Gallery Wrap. We know how to make it look good without putting a 'head' or an 'arm' over the side of the canvas. And we'll do this for no added cost. |

10) Can you work with pictures that are old or torn or damaged ? |
Yes. We often get requests to create a painting based an old or damaged photo. The portrait might take us a little longer to complete but there is no extra charge. |
11) May I see the painting prior to shipment ? How can I be sure the client will like it? |
We insure your satisfaction by completing the artwork and sending you a proof in advance for a $10 cost. Many photographers take advantage of our $10 Preview service. For a $10 fee we will actually create the finished painting and show you or the client a proof online in our web based "Preview Center". Neither the photographer or the client has any obligation to buy the portrait at this point. You can view the portrait, request changes and make the final purchase decision afterwards. We charge a little extra for art revisions after the first draft but there is no further charge at all until the final portrait is accepted. The $10 fee does not apply towards the final purchase. |

12) Can a color photo or painting be made out of a Black & White source photo or vice versa ? |
Yes. We can colorize black & white photos AND convert color photos into black & white. We can also create a color painted artwork from a black & white photo. The first step is to Colorize the black & white photo. An added charge of $39.95 applies for this service. We then create a painted artwork based on the colorized photo. When ordering this service we'll need details regarding the subject's natural color for Eyes, Hair & Skin. Be sure to include this information in the 'comments' section of the order form. Black & White paintings can also be made from color photos. See our Gallery for samples. |
13) Can you take people from different photos and combine them into a single painted portrait ? |
Yes. This will take a bit of extra work on our part to recompose the final scene. This service is called "Photo Compositing" and you can add this option to any painting order for an added cost of $39.95. Just tell us your preference for desired positioning of all the subjects in the special comments section of the project order form. See our customer showcase Gallery for examples of this process. |
14) Can you remove something or someone from a photo ? |
Yes, and in most cases there is no extra charge. If request becomes too elaborate we'll let you know. In that case there might be small charge for photo retouching. |
15) What happens if my photo won't fit proportionately on the Canvas size I want ? |
Sometimes we receive images from photographers shot in 2x3 pro format and then see a request for a portrait size in a different aspect ratio. In these cases the image may not fit proportionately on the finished canvas without making adjustments. If this happens we'll call to consult with you on the issue and send you a proof , if necessary, to show you what the finished result will look like in advance. |
